Karoo Ale Craft Beer
Waterkloof Brewery, situated outside Philippolis in the southern Free State, has taken craft beer brewing to the next level.
The Karoo region presents images of wholesomeness, windmills, sheep farms and warm hospitality. The region is famous for its lamb with its distinct taste and texture — a character derived from the veldt it grazes on. Indigenous Karoo veldt vegetation like rivier ganna, silwer karoo, skaapbossie, kapokbossie, perdebos and ankerkaroo give the lamb its remarkable flavour.
Pierre and Corrie Jacobs are passionate about real and unique experiences. To add to the idea of getting the real thing, they decided to brew a beer incorporating some of these Karoo shrubs for that authentic Karoo taste.
