The Real Thgin – Karoo Craft Gin

The Real Thgin is a truly unique craft gin, distilled by Pierre and Corrie Jacobs at Waterkloof Brewery, just outside Philippolis in the southern Free State. Crafted exclusively with all-local botanicals sourced from the Karoo and surrounding regions, this gin is as authentic as the landscape that inspired it.

At 45% ABV, The Real Thgin delivers a bold, aromatic experience — a gin that is, as the label says, Real Medicine.

Botanicals

• Wilde Als / Artemisia Afra — One of the most widely used herbal remedies in South Africa. This highly aromatic shrub is traditionally used to treat coughs, colds, influenza and malaria.
• Kakiebos / Southern Cone Marigold — Known for its antimicrobial, antiseptic, antispasmodic, antiparasitic and antibiotic properties.
• Roosmaryn / Rosemary — Significant antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Known to have positive effects on mood, memory, pain and sleep.
• Peperboom Blare / Pepper Tree — Traditionally used to treat wounds and infections due to its antibacterial, analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties.
• Kapokbos / Wild Rosemary — Traditionally used for colds, flatulence and as a diaphoretic. May improve memory, relieve muscle pain and stimulate the nervous system.
• Juniper Berries — The classic gin botanical. Traditionally used as a diuretic, anti-arthritic, antiseptic and for the treatment of gastrointestinal and autoimmune disorders.
