Die Itinerary
Dag 1 — Smithfield na Ruigtevallei
Ons vertrek vroeg vanaf BLine Plaaswinkel te Smithfield en ry suid na Bethulie. Langs die pad stop ons by Timeless Tomatoes waar Anja du Plessis ons persoonlik deur haar tamatie-onderneming lei — 'n unieke kykie in die hart van Karoo-boerdery. Vars verversings ingesluit.
Daarna ry ons via Venterstad na Ruigtevallei Lodge op die oewers van die Gariepdam — ons tuiste vir die volgende twee nagte. Die aand sluit af met 'n gesellige braai, met bestandele reg uit die BLine Plaaswinkel.
Dag 2 — Die Groot Dag
Na 'n stewige ontbyt — te danke aan BLine Plaaswinkel — vertrek ons op Jaco se eksklusiewe 4x4-roete oor Ruigtevallei se plaas. Koppies, vlaktes, en die Gariepdam aan jou voete — 'n roete wat min mense ooit bevoorreg is om te ry.
Middag besoek ons die Kruger-familie se Boerenkaasmakerij te Boesmanspoort — 'n ambaglike kaasmakerij diep in die Karoo. Proe, koop, en gesels met die mense agter die produk.
Terug by Ruigtevallei wag nog 'n aandbraai met BLine Plaaswinkel bestandele — en 'n Karoo-sonsondergang wat jy nie sal vergeet nie.
Dag 3 — Roosterkoeke en Tuispad
Ons laaste oggend begin met 'n spesiale stop by Willem se Kampie vir sy beroemde roosterkoeke — die perfekte afsluiting van 'n onvergeetlike ekspedisie. Daarna die tuispad, vol stories en met 'n Jimny vol Karoo-stof.

Welcome to the Jimny Gariep Expedition — a three-day guided 4x4 adventure through the heartland of the Gateway to the Karoo, with the Gariep Dam as centrepiece and Ruigtevallei Lodge as home base.
The Itinerary
Day 1 — Smithfield to Ruigtevallei
We depart early from BLine Plaaswinkel in Smithfield and head south to Bethulie. Along the way we stop at Timeless Tomatoes where Anja du Plessis personally leads us through her tomato enterprise — a unique glimpse into the heart of Karoo farming. Fresh refreshments included.
We then travel via Venterstad to Ruigtevallei Lodge on the shores of the Gariep Dam — our home for the next two nights. The evening ends with a convivial braai, with ingredients straight from BLine Plaaswinkel.
Day 2 — The Big Day
After a hearty breakfast — courtesy of BLine Plaaswinkel — we set off on Jaco's exclusive 4x4 route across Ruigtevallei farm. Hills, plains, and the Gariep Dam at your feet — a route few people are ever privileged to drive.
Midday we visit the Kruger family's Boerenkaasmakerij at Boesmanspoort — an artisanal cheese dairy deep in the Karoo. Taste, buy, and chat with the people behind the product.
Back at Ruigtevallei another evening braai with BLine Plaaswinkel ingredients awaits — and a Karoo sunset you won't forget.
Day 3 — Roosterkoeke and the Road Home
Our final morning begins with a special stop at Willem se Kampie for his famous roosterkoeke — the perfect close to an unforgettable expedition. Then the road home, full of stories and with a Jimny full of Karoo dust.
